Smoking, once considered to be highly fashionable, is now a growing concern for health professionals across the globe. Over the years, research has shown that smoking is the biggest killer in the world today. In the UK, smoking kills around 114,000 people each year; 42,800 of these people die from smoking related cancers; 30,600 die from cardiovascular disease and 29,100 die from emphysema and other chronic lung diseases. These figures suggest that around 300 people die every day, many of these people are young. The scariest fact I found whilst researching the effects of smoking, is that for each cigarette smoked, the person's life is shortened by 11 minutes! Smoking reduces the average life expectancy by 7-8 years. These facts are shocking considering the fact that when cigarettes first arrived in the UK, they were considered to be beneficial to a person's health. Smoking was actually encouraged at one point! It was considered 'cool' to smoke and all the celebrities and young, fashionable people were smoking. How wrong could we be!?

Cigarettes contain more than 4,000 chemical compounds and at least 400 toxic substances. Of these substances, the ones that are most harmful are;
Tar - causes cancer (carcinogen)
Nicotine - is addictive and causes high blood pressure
Carbon Monoxide - reduces oxygen in the body

Smoking causes an extensive list of conditions including; cardiovascular disease, cancer, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Hypertension (high blood pressure), infertility, impotence, worsens asthma, bloodshot eyes, macular degeneration (gradual loss of eyesight), cataracts, stained teeth and gums, periodontal disease and acidic tastes in the mouth contributing to ulcers. Smoking also affects a person's looks; smokers skin appears paler with more wrinkles.

You have probably read or heard about all the facts concerning smoking related illnesses. That is probably why you are reading this now. If you really want to give up smoking, then hypnosis is the best therapeutic help available for smoking cessation. That said, it has to be a conscious and subconscious decision made by yourself. Hypnosis will not work if you are only receiving help because your spouse, family or friends have told you to give up. The benefits of giving up smoking are numerous and will continue for the rest of your life. You just have to make that first step and really commit to giving up.

The approach I use is a one session approach, lasting around an hour and a half. Before I book you in for that session, however, we will have a 20 minute consultation just to be sure that you are ready to quit.
